Guangdong KARGEN Advanced Carbon Materials Co., Ltd. is a new materials technology enterprise founded by several doctors who studied abroad. The founding team members have studied and worked in the United States, Germany, Sweden, and other countries for many years. Located in Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City, the company has built a 1200 square meter technology center dedicated to the research, development, and industrial application of new micro and nanomaterials. Through independent innovation, KARGEN New Materials has achieved the first domestic large-scale production of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) at a scale of 10 tons, and has developed various products and technologies including polymer microspheres, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), micro and nanocarbon spheres, and energy-free seawater desalination, all of which have reached global leading levels in performance and cost. The company’s technical, R&D, and commercialization capabilities have been highly recognized in the industry. In 2023, the company won prestigious awards including the First Prize in the Guangdong Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the Champion of the Guangdong 'Mass Innovation Cup' Technology Pioneer Contest.

KARGEN has established a Technical Committee, composed of renowned experts and scholars from both domestic and international arenas, to assist in selecting, substantiating, and industrializing major research projects at the Technology Center. This effort aims to achieve technological breakthroughs and industrial upgrades at the forefront of international and national strategic needs. Currently, KARGEN has embarked on comprehensive collaborations with several well-known domestic and international research institutions and leading enterprises.

To further broaden and advance the development and industrial application of the company's cutting-edge products, starting from January 2024, KARGEN has, for the first time, opened applications for external collaboration on open research topics. The company plans to sponsor 60 projects through a national call for proposals.

KARGEN will focus on sponsoring research in the following areas:

B. Applications of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) (with at least 40 projects planned for sponsorship)

B001- Gas separation with MOFs

B002- Gas storage with MOFs

B003- Purification of electronic specialty gases with MOFs

B004- Air purification and filtration with MOFs

B005- Odor absorption with MOFs

B006- Water vapor adsorption/desorption with MOFs

B007- Water harvesting from air with MOFs

B008- Applications of MOFs in catalysis

B009- Applications of MOFs in lithium batteries

B010- Applications of MOFs in hydrogen energy

B011- Lightweight applications of MOFs

B012- Biomedical applications of MOFs

B013- Treatment of nuclear wastewater with MOFs

B014- Carbon dioxide capture with MOFs

B015- Electromagnetic absorption with MOFs

B016- Flame retardant applications of MOFs

B017- Other applications of MOFs

Application Guidelines:

1. Application Period: January 1, 2024, to June 30, 2024.

2. Expert Review: Reviews of project applications will be completed within 30 days of receipt.

3. Project Confirmation: Within 10 days after a project is approved, the project leader must submit a detailed research plan.

4. Designated Contacts:  Each project will have a designated contact person to assist the project leader with relevant matters.

5. Technical Committee:  The KARGEN Technical Committee will be responsible for the acceptance and review of applications.
